Siport21 presents three papers in Spanish Naval Engineering Congress about megayachts access at Port Tarraco, dynamic behaviour of cruises in Barcelona and the application of Formal Safety Assessment to new processes

Barcelona CrucerosThree papers related to megayachts access at Port Tarraco, dynamic behaviour of cruises in Barcelona and Application of Formal Safety Assessment (FSA of IMO) to new processes, have been presented in the 55 Spanish Naval Engineering Congress, held in Barcelona.

The Project “Feasibility Access of 180 meters length megayacht at Port Tarraco” assessed access manoeuvres of one of the largest megayachts in the current fleet in order to avoid unnecessary preventive measures in Port Tarraco, a marina with adequate and sufficient capacity to ensure the access and the berthing of this vessel.

On the other hand, the company has presented the methodology applied to organize the berthing of cruise vessels at the terminals in Barcelona Port. This configuration will allow the simultaneous use for up to five of the largest existing vessels nowadays.

Related to “Application of Formal Safety Assessment (FSA of IMO) to New Processes and Technics Optimization”, Siport21 has exposed her experience in the use of this methodology for the access of larger vessels to port than exist, from Panamax to New- Panamax; to replace two special propulsion tugs by power unit with a fixed point and the change of use from a solid bulk terminal to a container terminal, from the nautical point of view.
