Simulation Centre

The Siport21’s Simulation Center consists of three Real-Time Simulators with the capacity that can work individually or simultaneously. This arragement allows for interaction with others ships or ships assisted by tugs, operated by Captains, pilots or tugmasters. System developement by MARIN-MSCN (The Netherlands).

Each simulator has real navigation instruments, 3D images of the ports, environmental data, sounds, audible signals, night and limited visibility scenarios. There is also the possibility of adding tugboat manoeuvres. The system has a main bridge, 260-degree wide screen with a variable viewpoint, and two secondary bridges, all of them have the same technology.

The Simulation Centre also has available a Training/Meeting Room where the instructor conducts the briefing and debriefing of each exercise and analyzes the conclusions.

A virtual model of the port area under analysis must be built. Weather, maritime conditions, port layout, bathymetry, topography, aids to navigation, and other factors are also modeled. Moreover, if it necessary Siport21’s staff can develop ship behaviour numerical models, although it has an extensive library of ready-made vessel models

DNV-GL Approved

Siport21 real-time simulator is DNV-GL approved, (Det Norske Veritas and Germanischer Lloyd) with 001/121002 certificate number for the execution of port designs studies (port approach of vessels manoeuvring under different physical and environmental conditions for the adequate layout design of the port, the approach channel and the manoeuvring zones). The certificate is also valid for education and training Pilots, Captains and Officers at basic level or for specialised, advanced or retraining courses.
